Gyan tilted his head to the side slightly like an inquizitive puppy and asked "What happens if you let powdered giant teeth and unicorn horn bubble too long in a solution of lacewing flies, mermaid scales, and armadillo bile?," He asked, trying to play it off as a simple homework question, which he would probably say it was if questioned about it.

So the kid was trying to test him, eh? Kaelon grinned. He knew exactly what Gyan was up to; living at the detention center had made him an excellent judge of character.
"What happens?" he chuckled, repeating the question. "What happens is Jain turns an ugly color of paisley aquamarine and grows scales for a week when Lar uses it to replace Jain's shower gel. And then what happens after that is we get in major trouble with the detention center staff not only for afflicting one of the students with something they couldn't explain, but also for stealing from their stores, stealing CONTRABAND from their stores, keeping aforementioned contraband in our rooms, and for creating more contraband with aforementioned contraband. As well as various other related misdemeanors which escape me at the moment."
Kaelon did actually remember making the solution, and remembered that he did in fact know what would happen if one "overcooked" it, per se... He just couldn't remember the actual fact. So he chose to play with the question instead of answering directly. Which he probably would have done even if he did know the fact, that was just his nature.

Gyan could have laughed, but diddn't. "Stories don't necessarily make good answeres, Professor. But I still get what your're saying. I'm not brewing anything at the moment in my dorm, but I was just curious of what may or may not happen in such circumstance, seeing as how the combination is required in a potion I found in a book I read in the Library." He then turned his head to the side.
"But of 'course, such is probably in you're nature not to believe me, and to hand me over a nice fat detention and possibly a trek to the headmaster, which I only half expected to be the outcome of my question, if even that." He then stood up and dusted his clothes off, keeping his eyes on the man infront of him.

Kaelon shrugged deeply, a relaxed and amused smile on his face.
"Why should I not believe you? I've certainly heard weirder things that I knew for a fact to be true, and more harmful as well. And besides that, as you yourself pointed out, I probably don't believe you, so if I don't believe there's a potion in your dorm, or going to be shortly, what reason do I have to give you detention?" His eyes twinkled mischieviously.

Gyan felt quite releived, and showed it by relaxing his face. "Pardon, Professor. I've just grown very wary of the adults and teachers here. So far I've gotten three detentions on account of spells in the hallways, one detention for cursing a student in the great hall at lunch," He stopped for a few seconds to think of more.
"Two for sneaking out and about at night, and three headmaster visits for various other reasons" He listed, his hands now folded behind his back.

Chelsea walked in the door. "[red]That sounds like Kaelon,[/red]" she remarked with her arms crossed from the doorway.
A soft smile was on her lips as she listened to what was said. She walked farther into the room. "[red]That's quite a record, Gyan,[/red]" she commented. "[red]But...[/red]" she looked at Kaelon. "[red]Seeing as how you haven't done anything yet, I don't see the point in giving you detention. However, if something does occur, you can expect one hell of a time,[/red]" she said. "[red]Excuse my language.[/red]"

Gyan tucked his head in slightly at the appearance of another teacher. Two teachers in one room, both now hearing his "record". He was beginning to get uncomfortable. "Yes, I'll be sure to steer clear of you, Professor," He noted. "Well, if you excuse me, I'm still in my filthy quidditch robes, and am quite cold. I'll be off," He said, giving a little head bow to each of them with a muttered "Professor," and scattering off up the stairs.

"Not only does it sound like Kaelon... " he said with some amusement as Chelsea appeared, then laughed outright as Gyan quickly evacuated the area. After watching the boy leave, he turned back to look at Chelsea. "And as for your language..." he scolded gently, "...only in private." Kaelon smirked a little, reaching out and taking one of her hands, lacing his fingers through hers.
