As Tomas walked out onto the lawns he decided to take off his shoes. The cool damp grass felt so southing on his feet, it felt like he'd been walking forever. All morining long he'd been pacing the halls hoping to hear about his dorm assiginment but, still nothing. now he was just hoping to get some news from anyone here on how long it took when they came here. Everything here was so different and new from anything back home it all just seemed too peacfull. Far away from his parents yelling safe from anyone who threatened to harm him he found him self a nice place in the dry grass and sat down. He felt his brush against grass that felt as soft as clouds. Soon he found himself drifting off into one of the most peacefull sleeps he's ever had. That is until his dream shifted from a grand award cerimonie to him hiding in his closet as he saw spell after spell, jinx after jinx fly across the room. On one end he saw his father still in his work robes screaming obsinetis at the other end of the room at which he saw his mother. She on the other hand was wearing her formal red gown which she hadn't worn since her and her father's first Anniversery. Then in a flash of light it all ended and he woke up in a cold sweat back in the school lawns. Then he htought to himself "God, I hope someone comes by soon I'm sick of these dreams"

Sophia walked out onto the lawn and walked past Tomas. She glanced at him as she walked by, he looks familiar, she thought as she sat down kind of next to him. Although it was far enough away that he would have to get up and go sit next to her if he wanted to talk, she was still next to him. She pulled out her wand and a match then set the match on the ground.
"Commuto acus"
She pointed at the match and nothing happened. She kept doing it till either Tomas or the match would change into the needle.

Tomas shook off the feeling of being choked and glanced to his right. It was the girl from the hut...SOPHIA! Yea that was it..."hmm," he thought quickly "better not make it seem like I'm too happy..." So he kind of glanced away and played with the grass until eventually he grew bored. Then heard his "friend" call out "Commuto acus" Unfortunately for him, he'd yet to be able to sign up for classes so he had no idea what she was doing. And with that he saw another opportunity to spring a conversation with this quite interesting yet mysterious new friend of his. He crawled over, slow at first, then a little faster. Eventually ending with a plop right next to her, well technically his head was at her legs but same thing right. Well, time to learn he thought to himself, as he pulled out his wand. "Hey, um, two questions. One: What are you doing? and TWO: Can you teach me?" Then he sat and waited...

Sophia looked at Tomas and stopped what she was doing.
"You're...uh... Tomas, right?"
She looked at the match and had slight anger in her gaze at it. She shook her head and when she looked at it again with no emotion at all.
"I'm trying to turn this match into a needle. I learned it in Transfiguration, but I don't know if I should be teaching you." She was blushing like crazy. She formed a full sentence without saying 'uh' or 'um' so she was kind of happy. A string of joy flashed through her gaze.
She picked up the match and put it in her pocket. Hmm... There is something about him. I don't know what but something that is calming and frightening at the same time. She shrugged and just looked at him. Her face was beat red by now but she didn't notice. She laid on the grass and looked at the sky then sighed.

hmm why did he keep feeling this. It's something he's never felt before something neither of his parents maneged to give him. A feeling of safety. But, why from her...? He looked up at the sky and watched the clouds roll in. "You know," he said to Sophia "when i was little me and my parents used to lie back and watch the clouds roll in and guess what they look like." He was partially lying, but now a days his past was getting harder to distinguish fact from reality. There were so many times he'd imagined what a family should be he couldn't remember what was real. He looked over and saw her eyes shut and figured she was sleeping so he closed his eyes and waited for a reply.

Sophia looked over at Tomas who was laying there with his eyes closed. She moved her hand to above his forehead as if to stroke it then stopped. She moved quickly to lay back where she was.
"That uh sounds like fun. I never did things like that with my parents. I um.... my parents and I didn't do much together." She sighed and her eyes filled with sadness only this time it didn't go away. She was blushing again but she didn't even noticed.

"whoa, i just got the weirdest feeling someone was about to touch me..." He didn't tell her his eyes were still partially open. He wouldn't want to embarrass her or worse...make her leave. AS he heard he reply he could tell he struck a nerve. He decided he'd even the odds. "But, you know, that was when i was little when i got older things got...worse." That's as far as he'd go right now. It's not like he'd pour his heart into a complete stranger she probably had problems of her own to worry about.

Sophia just looked at him and started to blush a lot.
"Oh, so how do you like your classes?" She quickly changed the subject. It was getting too awkward for her.
She moved her hand to lay on her stomach. She gave a sigh as she was looking into the sky. Sadness filled her eyes more now, it was obviously noticeable to Tomas if he would look her in the eyes. She was hoping he wouldn't since she was about to cry. Stupid memories.

He heard her question but was thinking deeper. "I haven't signed up yet." His thoughts were all trying to kill each other as he was racking his brain to decided what to do now. As he looked at this girl lying next to him he realized she had the same look he had every time he hid in his closet from his raging father's anger. She was thinking about something, some thing horrible in her past. Should he even ask? I mean maybe this could be something in common, maybe, he could even be a shoulder to cry on. Darn, there go his hopes again flying up like little red balloons. Oh well here goes nothing, "Whatever happened wasn't your fault. I may not know you that well but i can already tell your to good a person for anything they threw at you...." now it was out there like a ticking bomb.

Sophia gasped slightly when he said that. The sadness diappeared and she has a strike of fear. He knows! Wait how could he I didn't tell him.
"What do you mean? And it probably was my fault." She sat up and hugged her knees to her chest then hung her head as if in shame. She shook her head and looked at him.
"Just forget I said anything... please. It was nothing." She sighed then looked at Tomas and gave him a soft sweet smile to him then started blushing like crazy so she looked up at the sky.

"look I'm sorry I brought it up but I might know how you feel. The yelling screaming always having hands swung at you all because you not who they want you to be..." he said. "But if it really bothers you that much I'll drop it. I just wanted you to know I'm hear to talk to."

Sophia looked at him with blushed cheeks.
"I'd rather not talk about it. And how do you know if that was what happened to me? I might not have been beat. I could have had a relative die!" Anger rushed into her eyes.
It was all my fault! Every bruise I got every scar. I was all because I was a witch. I should have never came here. I should just go. She stood up as if to walk away then hung her head in shame and felt a tear stream down her face. Luckily for her thought Tomas didn't notice since her head was hung.

"look I'm sorry OK," he replied " I guess since i had a rough childhood I saw a bit of me in you....I didn't mean to pry. Please, just sit back down for some reason or other talking to you. Well, it calms me i guess i feel safe. I guess i wanted to help you feel the same..." "I'm sorry."
