Stradivarius was silent for a few moments, and glanced back at Ranyr again before answering. "Actually, I find her rather amusing. She's so proud, and yet half the time it appears as though she's terrified of everyone, you know? As of yet, I haven't seen her speak to anyone save for her sarcasm in Charms class, so I do wonder if she's merely shy and hiding behind a cold front. Or I could be wrong, and she might just have no feelings at all, "he smiled, "but it's rude to talk of people in that sort of way behind their back, so I'll refrain from discussing that possibility." Stradivarius shrugged lightly. Jalayna seemed sociable so far. "What is your opinion?"

"Me? I think she has feelings. She just prefers to hide them." Jalayna sighed. "Like me, when I was young." Jalayna sighed again. "Everyone has feelings. Some hide them. Some show them, in moderation. Some exaggerate them, those are drama queens. But nonetheless, everyone has feelings." She blinked her cold, brown eyes and sighed. Again.

"It's always a possibility, "Stradivarius tipped his head in concession. "Although not everyone has feelings. I had the misfortune of meeting someone who didn't a few years ago. The section of their brain that generates emotion, you know, hormones and all that, it had been destroyed in an accident. That was perhaps the most intimidating person I have ever met." He frowned momentarily.

Jalayna winced. "Well, then there's that." She sighed and smiled a bit. "Well, I know what I am. I'm a drama queen." Jalayna laughed.

[[O-o Dude. Gossip. xD ]]
Ranyr sneezed, covering her lower face with an ivory hand to prevent it from spreading. Shaking her hand away now, as if to fling any germs onto the ground, she reclined back into her chair in disinterest and boredom, letting her mind wander to contemplate various theories for the sake of amusement. Voices interrupted her, however, and she found most of the class [namely Stradivarius and some bubble-head Hufflepuff] chatting amiably. Her eyebrows raised, recalling her sneeze with amusement. Sighing, she returned to leaning back carelessly, counting specks on the false [or real, she knew not] ceiling.
[[If you've ever heard the saying, whenever you sneeze it means someone's talking about you.]]

Jalayna looked at Ranyr and immediately shut up and looked her over. She had just sneezed! Jalayna shook her head and turned away, trying not to seem rude.

((Haha, that's my favorite saying ever! Of course, also supposedly your ears ring and/or burn if someone's talking about you.)) Stradivarius concealed an amused smile behind a closed, calm face. He looked over at Ranyr and said in a guarded, but not unfriendly tone, "Yes, Miss Ranyr, we were discussing you." He had noticed her sharp glance their way after she had sneezed.

Kai thought it was amusing to watch the goings on. The fact that Ranyr sneezed at just the right moment was a very strange coincidence. Kai wondered when the class would actually start, but for now he would just watch the other students.

((Oh, if you have any questions about Latin, Haleigh, you can pm me or Fork. We've taken two years of Latin.))
Glancing away from Ranyr and Jalayna towards the Headmistress, who had, at some point, appeared to replace the suddenly missing professor (How had his attention slipped so as to miss it?), Stradivarius took in the spell with some apprehension. Transfiguration... He could do it, but it definitely wasn't his strong suit.
Excusing himself from conversation with the two girls, he turned back to facing forward in his seat, scrutinizing the match and needle on his desk.
Commuto acus. ...Why can I not remember any of my Latin vocabulary? What does it mean...? Stradivarius was suddenly confused and hopeless. He was utterly terrible at Transfiguration if he couldn't understand the meaning of the spell-words. Well--he was utterly terrible at Transfiguration anyway, but knowing the words gave him a slightly better chance at the success of what he was doing. It was like a leaky boat: it was useless. If it had oars, you might get somewhere, but it was still pathetic.
Though he racked his brain, he couldn't find the words. Well... I suppose I might as well try it anyway... Stradivarius drew his wand from his sleeve pocket, letting it warm up slightly. Narrowing his eyes and focusing hard on the match, he whispered the words. "Commuto acus."
Nothing happened.
He might have known. Taking a deep breath, he focused more on what he wanted the match to do, rather than the match itself, and repeated the spell in his head. He felt quite self-conscious with Ranyr and Jalayna and the other students, all of whom would probably have far more success than he, standing in such close proximity, and able to observe his every failure. Being less relaxed than usual probably wasn't helping his chances here.
Closing his eyes, Stradivarius muttered, "Commuto acus!"
...The match splintered.
And the pieces began to turn blue and quite fuzzy.
What in hell...?!
And the splinters-turned-doxies began running rampant across the room.
God, I'm such an idiot. "Professor!"

Jalayna watched in shock as splinters of blue wood (Well, that's what it looked like) started running around the room. Jay almost shrieked as a few clambered onto her hand. She violently shook her hand and her brown curls fluttered around her face. "Damned splinters." Jay groaned as the splinters stole her match. She yelled after them, "You give that back now."

Ranyr gave him a scrutinizing look before returning her attention to the headmistress, not sure what to make of his words.
----
With the match and needle in front of her, she blinked steadily in a blank stare. This wasn't what she had expected to be doing first class, but wasn't something she was totally unfamilar with [which was transifiguration in general]. At least the headmistress [what was wrong with the professors at this school?] had made it a simple task, the two objects fairly similar already in size, even if they weren't in composition.
A blue flash crossed her vision, jolting over her needle and away.
. . .
Ranyr looked up to find them scattered across the room and she screamed, clasping her hands over her mouth immediately after, as if to prevent any more embarassing sounds to be emitted from the blasted thing. Huh?
"Professor!" Strad? She looked at him and it all clicked. Her expression calmed [phew, no strange attacks from foreign creatures] and the Ravenclaw couldn't help but feel her lips tug up in a small smile.
Drawing her wand out, she twirled it in her hand like a baton, not daring to try the spell now till all the blue fluff-balls went away, despite her amusement of watching them steal the other sutdents materials and fly aimlessly. She collected her own equipment and held the wooden and metal sticks between her fingers in her free hand.
Maybe she should name a few of these.... and mentally began selecting blue fluffs: Joe, Nancy, Chris, Rae...[/color]

Sophia looks into the class room and sees that is has just started. Darn it! I'm late. She thought panicing slightly. She stepped in and opened my mouth to speak then saw little blue slinter looking things everywhere. Wide-eyed she just stood there not knowing what just happened. She quickly ran to a seat in the back and down. She saw a few other students there and then looked at the Professor. I wonder what I missed.
She just sat there waiting till someone talked to her. She started to mess with her long black hair and pulled it up in a high ponytail to get it out of her face. A few blue splinter things ran across her desk and she jerked back not knowing what they were. She shook it off then sat there waiting for instructions.

Sophia took out her wand and looked at the match on her desk. Hmm... The me see if I can do it. She focused on the match really hard.
"Commuto acus"
She waited and nothing happened. She shrugged and kind of looked upset. This is what I get for having muggle parents huh? She shook her head and just stared at the match.
"Commuto acus"
She muttered again as she flicked her wrist. Again nothing happened. She got frustrated so she grabbed her stuff and walked out.
