Remus Lupin walks into class for his first DADA class of the year. He looked up as students started to walk in. He gives them a little time to get settled in.

Kai walks in and looks at all of the empty seats. It seems that he was the first on to class. He hated being early, time went so slowly. It was awkward too, being the only one in the room with the professor.

Alex tried to walk calmly into Defense Against the Dark Arts. She had recently been told by a fellow first year that she was a little too energetic, so she slowed herself down a little. It actually felt kind of good to walk slowly around the castle, marveling at the sights instead of taking them as she went. "Morning!" She said to no one in particular and sat down in the front row.
She pulled out her wand and sat it on the table. The only other person, besides the Professor of course, was a boy. "Hi." Alex said, and waved a little bit, since things felt a little too . . . awkward and lonely.

Kai looked at the Gryffindor who was waving at him. He paused a moment, but waved back. "Um...hi? So you're a first year too?" Kai asked, he decided to do that since there wasn't anything else to do. He could tell that she felt just as awkward as he did. He just wanted the class to start and get some more people in the room.

"Yes." Alex said, just a little relieved. "I'm Alex. Well, Alexis actually. Doesn't matter which, really. Alex Farmer." Her grin grew, and she looked around for her sister to arrive. "My twin's not here yet. She's Aly. Um, what's your name?"

Jeremy waited until everyone was seated and then started, "welcome to Defense Against the Dark Arts my name is Professor Jeremy Weathers. Today we will start off by asking what is Defense Against the Dark Arts and why do we need to know about this stuff. DADA class is about learning how to defend yourself against dark witches and wizards. So the second question has been answered as well because I asked why do we need to know this stuff? We need to know this because we need to be able to defend ourselves in case we ever need to. Now that we know that we need to start learning about defending ourselves. We will finish today's lesson with by starting to learn about Petrificus Totalus. This is a curse that will make it so you cannot move at all. If this is put on you, you will be as stiff as a board. The counter curse is one that you should be able to use it is Ennervate. Just say "enneervate" pointing at who you want to revive and they will be back a short while after the spell is used on them. It is most often used when someone has been stunned with the stupefy curse which we will learn about later this term. We will start to learn the counter curse for the Petrificus Totalus next lesson. That will do it for this Lesson. Homework will be posted in the homework section.

"My name is Kai, Kai Sikara. ...you have a twin? That's...um...interesting," Kai said. He wasn't really interested in talking to her. He just wanted to finish class and leave. The professor was saying something about the Petrificus Totalus curse. He heard that the lesson was over and he had homework. He felt a little bad for leaving the girl there without saying much. Kai got up, put his book back in his bag, and looked back at the girl once more. "Bye, maybe we'll see each other around," Kai said.

((Let me tell you why. Sorry if I'm spamming. There is a lock set up on all postings, including PMs. You have to have a certain amount of characters (letters, spaces, ect.) before you can post anything. If it was a short message in the PM, then the computer read it as not long enough, so you couldn't send it. If you have a short reply to a PM try adding alot of spaces of just jibberish at the end so that you can send it. ))

Stradivarius strode desperately into the classroom, glancing agitatedly over his shoulder. Klarisa had pursued him most of the way to this class, he had only managed to lose her a few stair flights ago by hitting her in the face with a hex, sending her falling, swearing viciously, down the steps. Now he had arrived in the classroom, only to find it over. He gritted his teeth, biting back a rather rude exclamation, and apologized to the teacher for his tardiness or absence or whatever Professor Lupin wanted to call it. At least Klarisa couldn't continue her assault of him in front of a professor. "I'm so sorry I'm late, Professor, I was detained by Klarisa Rhamhah in the hallway..." The nuisance of a girl had caught him coming out of the Great Hall and followed him to this class, which she had been headed toward anyway, and proceeded to torment him with questions he refused to answer in public, hard punches to the back and shoulders, which she fully recognized the condition of (she had, after all, experienced firsthand the way his parents treated him, and knew that he had had to make a trip home before term), and when he snapped vicious responses back at her, she shoved him into nearby groups of people. Klarisa was the only person who had ever been able to truly intimidate him, mostly because he had seen the things she was capable of doing quite remorselessly, and knew that her mind, no matter how she denied it, wasn't even close to what any other person might call normally functioning. She was quite volatile, a bomb balanced on a needletip, and though he did his share of tormenting her as well, he preferred to avoid her altogether. Selecting a seat across the room from the door, Stradivarius pushed his dark curly hair back from his sweaty forehead and took a deep breath. Hopefully, Klarisa would, at the very least, be reprimanded by the professor. After all, he knew from experience that the girl couldn't take criticism well from authority figures or close friends. He recorded the homework in his planner, and rested his head wearily on his bag.

[[ O-o; ]]
Ranyr had entered just to hear the professor finishing up his lesson. Stunned at the speed in which he told the class both lesson and assignment [in comparison to the other teachers, at least] she momentarily forgot herself in attempting to recall all he had said. Although thankful for the opportunity to /not/ have to do anything right at the moment, she made sure her presence was known so she wouldn't be marked absent. Issuing a small, polite cough she smiled at the professor, seating herself behind the one person's whose name she knew from a previous class: Stradivarius [[Ooc: Gah, that's a pain to type xD]].
With a pen, she tapped him on the shoulder, leaning across the desk. It was a bit forward, particularly for her, but she didn't quite care about that at the moment.
"Is that all?" she whispered with an unintentionally hopeful tone. If so, couldn't they all leave? Writing a note as he had done in the previous class would take too much effort and time on her part; she hoped he would reply directly. They couldn't interrupt as the prfoessor currently was speaking.
Her finger unconsciously began to twirl one of her already curled pig-tails as she studied the room.

Jalayna rushed into the class panting. She groaned and cradled her head in her hands. It was all over. great. This had better not be held against her.
"Sorry, so sorry, I just got sorted, rushed for my first class, couldn't make it on time." She gasped for air and almost fell on the ground. She leaned against the closest thing to her and shook her head. For some strange reason she felt... giddy. And nauseous. Jalayna frowned and shook her head again.

((Yeah, I know his name's a pain, think about how much I have to type it! (Hehee) ;D And he hates nicknames, too. Fork is so much easier to work with, it's easy...))
"That is it. Don't worry..." Stradivarius glanced at Jalayna, who had also just rushed in, "Most of us missed it, too... Oh, but here's the homework." He offered Ranyr a slip of paper on which he had copied the homework assignment.
((I'm typing sitting next to an apple pie and it smells weird...))

((Apple pie??? Not as bad as mustard pie. My brother just made mustard pie and dared me to eat it. Ewww.))
"That's it?" Jalayna gasped. Since she felt like being a drama queen, she hit her head against the wall and explained, "I have a bad habit, I like being liked by the teachers."

((Hmm. Actually, I quite like mustard, that sounds intriguing.))
"Oh, please don't hurt yourself, though, " Stradivarius stood, placing a hand on Jalayna's shoulder and gently directing her away from the wall. "And don't worry too much about hm disliking you, you'll be all right. Professor Lupin is new this year, and this is our first lesson. He's hardly seen most of us, you'll have plenty of chances to better your reputation. Trust me, I have the same problem, I prefer to have a good reputation or none at all...

Jalayna smiled weakly and rubbed her head, wincing in pain. Well, she shouldn't have done that. "Good reputation or none at all. So I can guess several things from that statement." Jalayna grinned. "You're kind, caring, smart, and, uh, have good moral values." She laughed. "I'm probably wrong, I have a knack for things like that."
