Writing to an old friend . . . {Open}

Dear Alicia. Things are going all right own here at Hogwarts. I suppose you're wondering what Hogwarts is, then, and wherre I've been all year. Well, there's something you need to know about me. I'm not supposed to tell you, but my mom said it was okay, since you're my best friend and all. You probably shouldn't tell anyone, though. Well, actually, tell Michael. But that's it. I'm a witch.

No joke. That's where I've been all year. And last year, at the end of the school year, I missed exams because my family had been put under an attack. The reason I haven't written before this is because I lost my memory in that attack. There's a charm apparrently that removes your memory. But, I got it back. I'll have to relay that story to you later.

I've made a couple friends, but I'm missing every one of you. Tell Michael that I'm really sorry for not writing. He's probably either really furious, or really worried. Tell him I miss him bunches, and make sure he gets some of the chocolate I'm sending. Careful, though. They're chocolate frogs. They jump out at you sometimes. Don't worry. They're only magical chocolate, they don't bite or anything.

Alexis attached the letter to one of the school owl's legs and told it where the letter should be delivered. She watched as the owl flew into the sun and out of sight.

[Gyan Salamanece]

Gyan walked into the owlery, carrying a rather large envelope. He was usually carefull not to step on the owl droppings, but the suprise of seeing someone else up here at sunrise got the better of him.

"Oh, bloody hell!" Gyan swore looking at the bottom of his shoe. "Scourgify" He said, several times in fact, to clear him a way to the window.

"So, you allright?" he asked Alexis.

Alexis turned her head and laughed as Gyan stepped on a huge pile of owl droppings, and briskly cleaned it off again. "Yeah, I'm doing all right." She said. "It's nice to be able to remember stuff, now. It was kind of like waking up."

There was a moment of silence. Finally Alexis spoke up again. "I just wrote to my Muggle friends. I'm telling two of them about this place. Of course, they're probably mad because I didn't write, but hopefully they'll realize that I couldn't have written. It's kind of hard to write to someone you don't even remember." She laughed. "And how are you doing. Not busy hexing anyone, are you."

It was a light comment, meant mostly as a joke, but she did plan on asking if he had threatened her sister. she wasn't too worried. Her sister was a nag, and was probably being really annoying. She couldn't blame Gyan. If Alexis knew any good spells, she'd probably hex Alyson.

[Gyan Salamanece]

Gyan put on a face of mock offence, "Moi, hex anyone? Perposterious!" He said, sticking his nose in the aid. He laughed at read the expression on Alexis's face. "Is there something you wanna ask me?"

"Funny." Alexis said, grinning. "It's just that Alyson was telling me to keep away from you the other day. She said you and Professor Dean had threatened her. I thought she was being ridiculous. She didn't even give me a reason that you might do such a thing, and then she turned around like a wounded puppy, and started glaring at you. Know anything about it?"

Frankly, Alexis didn't care if he had threatened Alyson or not. Alexis had already had Gyan's wand pointed at her, and it didn't cross her mind that he was any more dangerous than anyone else at school.

Gyan bit his lower lip. "Actually, Alexis, I did threaten her. With a light memory charm, just enough to make her forget the last half hour or so." He decided to add, "I had a very good reason to do it as well."

"Oh." Alexis said thoughtfully. "That might explain it. You must have terrified the crap out of her with it. Probably just because she's scared of having the same problem I did, but she's always been stupid like that."

"Wait." Alexis said, turning slyly towards Gyan. "Do I not get to know the reason? Am I left in the dark about whatever deep dark mysterious secret that Gyan Salamanece has tucked in his sleeve?" She laughed, but continued looking at him. It was very curious.

Gyan smiled. "You have a knack for sticking your nose where it doesn't belong", Alexis he said.

"Very well. If you must know, I'm an animagus. A wizard who can transform into a certain animal at will.."

[alexishannah]

"Curiosity killed the cat, but at least the cat enjoyed her short life." Alexis said, grinning.

"Oh! Wow!" Alexis said excitedly. "An ani- animagus?" She said, attempting to pronounce the word. "So, you can just turn into an animal? At any time? Awesome! Can I . . . can I see? Oh, wow, that's just plain awesome!"

Then Alexis frowned. "Why couldn't you let Alyson know? Is it wrong, or something? Is it a bad thing?" Alex looked curiously up at him, but didn't make any assumptions about what his answer might be. She trusted Gyan.

[Gyan Salamanece]

Gyan glanced around. "Doing it infront of a bunch of owls isn't a very smart thing. See, the animal I turn into is a moth.." He said. If he got eaten in his first year, he would be quite upset.

"Well, I diddn't want Alyson to know, one; I don't trust her, two; Its illegal if your not registered, which I'm not The ministry is supposed to have what animal you turn into, your markings, and everything. It's very difficult and dangerous to learn. And three; If she blabbed, I would be expelled from school." Gyan explained. "

"If you want to meet me later, out on the lawns, I'll show you." he said.

"Wow!" Alexis said, fascinated. Alyson would be clicking her tongue at doing something illegal, but Alex thought it was truly brave. "I can't believe it! Then again, what shouldn't I believe? Everything has changed so much here!"

Alexis leaned back on her heels. "Okay! I'd love to see. Oh, I've just realized so many things I haven't told Alicia! Don't worry. She's a Muggle, so she wouldn't know anyone to tell anyway. But I won't tell her about you're animagus thing either. I just wanna tell her what an animagus is! Oh, and I can't wait to see her over the summer! Ah, but I can't show her any magic, can I? Maybe I can sneak a real simple spell that the Ministry won't catch. Can you do that?"

She was excited now. Ever since she began remembering her past life, she had become more excited to tell her friends about her knew life. It was so fascinating all over again.

[Gyan Salamanece]

"No, you can't. The ministry has a magical way of detecting magic called a 'Trace'. And it follows you everywhere untill you turn seventeen." He explained.

"The Trace can only detect magic in the area though, not the user" He finished with a wink.
