Blair walked out of her small office into the larger classroom. She looked around at all the wooden desks and smiled to herself. This was her first year teachigng and she was excited. She Turned to the board and spelled the days lesson to appear on the board. [teal]First Years Lesson One: Alohomora ~ Unlocking the locked
Please take out your Charms book, then read quietly the introduction. From there we will commence to the actually showing and trying of the spell "Alohomora"[/teal] She then sat in the medium sized desk with a muggle novel. Despite their cluelessness, there were some pretty good authors. She read on, waiting for the first student to enter the class.

Alex walked into the room for her Charms class, grinning from ear to ear. Hogwarts was such a marvelous place, after all, and she had almost gotten lost on the way, but had found the most marvelous room with some shining fireflies that flashed in different colors. The stairs had changed several times as well, so she was surprised that she was the first one there.
Maybe I just woke up really early. Alex said, trying to remember what time of the day she had woken up. But, she hadn't looked at a clock, so she gave up and took her seat.

Kai walked in and read the board. He saw the only other student was a Gryffindor girl. He pulled out his Charms book, but didn't start reading. It looked very boring and he didn't want to deal with that right now.

Blair looked up and saw that only two students of the four that had signed up had decided to show up. [teal]Well, I suppose the other two will be counted as late and have points taken off of their total score.[/teal] She scanned over the two students again and then put up her book. Then in a flurry of dark teal robes, she stood and walked to the front of the class, the slight gust from her movement shaking the multiple chimes in the room by her desk, a deep chime mixed with a higher, yet low note rang through the class. Blair stood at the front waiting for the two children to look up at her.

Kai had finished reading the introduction a few minutes ago. He listened to the chimes, but didn't look up. He wondered if he would get in trouble for being annoying. He thought about it and decided it would be a waste of time to bother with being stupid and stubborn. As soon as the chimes stopped, he looked up at Professor Blair. He wondered when the class would start.

Ranyr entered the room with an awkward lack of aura, figure held in a slightly conceited manner and clearly as uncaring of her surroundings as they were of her. Taking a demeaning side-glance at the drabby classroom, and a rather disgusted glance at the chalk-board. As much as she enjoyed charms in general, the method of lesson nor the lesson itself seemed to be of any interest to her. Deciding to humor the professor, most likely new, however, she took a seat in the back corner, away from the desk, door, etc and lethargically flipped through her book pages. Emitting a sigh, she looked at the text blankly before her eyes began to traverse to suddenly amusing interior of the classroom, (despite previous drabbyness). Her finger unconsciously began to twirl her dark hair.

Blair watched as one more student entered the room. She held herself with a conceited manner and walked to a random seat and sat down, pulling out her book but not bothering to open it. Deciding that it was about time for class to start, she pulled out her own wand and waved it, the dark wood cutting through the air with a slight swishing sound. A few hollow thuds were heard as chests with differing locks appeared. There were locks that ranged from the simple padlock to more complex ones with various locking mechanisms.
"[teal]I see that you are growing restless and some of you are not even goign to bother with the inrtoductin. Not that I expected any of you to read it of course it was just something to keep you busy while some of us tried to find our way. Now since I assume you all can tell what the charm Alohomora does, if you don't kindly raise your hand then I will show you how to perform it and you can practice on the varying locks.[/teal]"

Jalayna rushed into the classroom gasping.
"Sorry I'm late, I was sorted only a while ago." She waited for the professor's acknowledgement as she scanned the room. *Just to my liking.* She smiled and glanced at the padlocks and board. Interesting. Very interesting. She turned back and smiled sweetly.
*Please be reasonable, please be reasonable...* she prayed inwardly.

Blair looked up as a young girl cam rushing into the classroom, gasping to fill her drained lungs. Hmmm....sorted only a while ago. Well, I suppose it could happpen. "[teal]Don't worry, you haven't missed much, I was just asking if anyone didn't know what the charm Alohomora does.[/teal]

"Ma'am, I think we all know what Alohomora does. Shouldn't we move on to trying it or something?" Kai blurted out. He was sick of just sitting there waiting for everybody. Kai went back to just spacing out again, waiting for the next assignment.

Luminecsent orbs drifted over to the boy who had just spoken out. Blunt.
Ranyr looked back to the board and the slightly flustered Hufflepuff. Raising an eyebrow at the girl's antics, she distracted herself only with the professor's apparant lack of ability to teach. She had approached everything in a disgustingly passive manner, did not give off the impression of knowing any more than she did in charms (although Ranyr reprimanded herself, knowing full-well she must have been hired with reason), but still proceeded nowhere in the lesson. The eyebrow remained in it's lifted position a mere moment longer. She had been transferred here /why/ again?
She had not missed much, but as she was late, she should /have/ and therefore, fault on the teacher.
"Professor," she started, though it was mainly just to call her attention, as if afraid she would dissappear into another realm contained in all that empty space that must be in her head. Her tone should hopefully indicate her just to get on with it, and she eyed him with a curious look with hidden undertones of aggrivation.
Her fingers began to tap against her desk in sequence.
[[EDIT: Terribly sorry. T_T I'm oblivious to most things.]]

"[teal]I am glad we all seem to know what it does. I'm sure that if you hadn't know what it did, and I just threw it at you, you would be fairly distressed. Now, since it appears no demonstration will be needed, you all may take chests with locks of varying difficulty and start unlocking them. And you, Mr...[/teal]" Blair said her grey eyes turning cold towards the rude Ravenclaw. She went on, not waiting for him to answer, "[teal]If I hear another smart remark about how I teach my class it will be detention. IF you noticed it is the first day of term. And there are not as many students present as they should be. I was holding off to see if they would come, but since you seem to be rather impatient, I would like to see you open all the locks. Since you seem as though you know the charm quite well for a first year, you should be able to get them on the first try.[/teal]"
Blair stepped back, waving her wand to move the chest's forward towards the children and sat on her desk, her eyes showing none of the warmth they held before the class started.

Jalayna paled and walked to a seat near the back. Oh dear. This was going to be a long lesson. She stared at her chest and paled further. This was bad.
She pointed her wand at the chest and said nervously,
"Alohomora."

"Sorry," Kai mumbled quietly. He can't believe that she had freaked out so much. All he wanted was to actually do something instead of sitting there. He looked at the various locks, and prepared to open them. Kai grabbed his wand and pointed at the chest, "Alohomora."
(Sorry about the confusion, I don't pay attention sometimes)

Startled, Ranyr gave a small jump in her chair at the Professor's mini-rant. Uncertain of whether it referred to the boy who had spoken out before her, or her own inner-thoughts, she decided to keep silent and refused to acknowledge any of it referring to her. Anything of such a manner would clearly let any dislike be known and well... she could just kiss her grades goodbye. If this was one of those immensely biased teachers, that is. Her mouth curled to a frown as she hoped that wasn't the case. Sucking-up was a large blow to her pride.
Giving a small shudder [the kind you might get when the unexplained chill runs across your neck] and recovered her blank expression, though the so-slightly narrowed eyes and arched eyebrows made her appear in slight annoyance. However, the girl placed her hands on the desk, lifting herself with an exaggerated sigh out of her seat. Looking up she eyed the two students already practicing the charm and a small smile tugged at her lips.
Retracting her arms back beside her, she stood in a fairly relaxed position, waiting for their results before trying it on her own. The school she'd gone to before this had covered the spell, but she'd never tried it. Come to think of it, she hadn't tried /any/ spell so far [despite it being second term]. A mental shrug. She was far too lethargic to practice... and she silently cursed this still nameless professor for forcing some type of immediate work out of her. Ah well... her thoughts trailed as she awaited the results from the other two, standing behind them with dulled but clearly attentive eyes.
