Blair walked out of her small office into the larger classroom. She looked around at all the wooden desks and smiled to herself. This was her first year teaching and she was excited. She Turned to the board and spelled the days lesson to appear on the board. [teal]Second Years Lesson One: Engorgio ~ Making the small....well....not so small
Please take out your Charms book Edition II, then read quietly the introduction. Then we will commence to the actually showing and trying of the spell "Engorgio"[/teal] She then sat in the medium sized desk with the muggle novel from the First Years class. She read on, enraptured in a furious battle scene between a vampire-werewolf hybrid against a werewolf, waiting for the students to enter the class.

Nico walked into the Charms classroom. The first thing he noticed was the new professor, he looked her up and down vaguely aware that she was also his head of house. The HoH thing was good, it meant almost certain favoritism and as un-Slytherin as he seemed sometimes he was a big fan of nepotism in his favor. "Morning, Ms" he said with a practically trademarked charming grin as he sat near the back. The spell on the board looked interesting, it had every manner of practical applications especially when chocolate came into the equation. He liked Charms class and it was getting better all the time.

"[teal]Mornin to you also, Mr...[/teal]" Blair said, her voice heavy with an Irish accent trailing off as she realized since she was new she hadn't the faintest idea who her own students were. "[teal]Since no one else appears to be coming for the time, do you understand what the charm does from my little...er...description?[/teal]" She said standing. The chimes ringing softly as she walked towards the cabinet and brought out two large slabs of dark chocolate. An after thought brought her to take out a jar of peanut butter and two butter knives. "[teal]I hope you like dark chocolate. Its my favorite and actually is good for you. We, are going to charm the slabs of chocolate.[/teal]" Blair smiled as she set down the bars of chocolate, looking up at the sole student in the class room.

Maria rushed into class, quite out of breath. She and her sisters had all been separated by some sets of rogue staircases that didn't seem to want them to get to class on time. Panting, she took a seat next to Nico. "I'm terribly sorry. Got a little, um, lost . . . no, more like the stairs wanted me to take a different route." Smiling a bit, hoping she was alright, she realized that Nico was the only other student in the class.
Guess I'm not as late as I thought. Maria said, eyeing the chocolate, and then the board. She realized it might be a little too late to read the introduction, but pulled out her book and her wand anyway, making sure she could take a quick glance at it if she needed to.

Aislin walked into class and faced the new charms teacher. "[red]I'm sorry that I am late,[/red]" she said handing the woman a note that explained what happened. Aislin got her hair stuck in the portrait as she left the common room, and it was a few minutes before a prefect passed and helped her out. It was all a rather embarrassing experience, one that Aislin would rather not re-live. The note was written from the prefect, and Aislin took a seat by Nico on the other side of him. As Aislin slid into the seat, she smiled. Her hair was it's usual colour once more, but it made her a little uncomfortable. Everytime she looked in the mirror she didn't see herself. She saw Morganna. "[red]Hullo Nico[/red]" she said quietly taking out her book.

Blair nodded at her explanation of her trady, then waved her wand to conjure another slab of chocolate. "[teal]To the point, we are enlargening, these slabs of chocolate. When they are properly charmed and I check it, you may eat them. To perform the charm you simply flick you're wand towards the slab and say the incantation.[/teal]" To make her point, with a flick of wrist and a declaration of the incantaion '[teal]Engorgio.[/teal]" The first slab of dark chocolate grew at least twice its size. She then grabbed the bars of chocoalte and briskly handed them to the students. "[teal]You're turn.[/teal]"

Sprightly walked into the room holding her head with one hand, "God, I'm late. I'm always late these days, or so early that who I'm looking for hasn't even been born" she muttered to herself. "Give me a detention, or whatever" she shrugged and sat down by Nico. He probably didn't want her around him now, but that had never stopped her before. She caught sight of Maria though, in her minds eye hair matted with blood and eyes jaundiced yellow, and took her things next to Aslin. She blinked a few times to erase the image of Maria from her imagination. Once again she looked at the blonde girl, this time things seemed right, or right-er anyway.
"Bad as your was, mine was worse" she whispered to Aslin before turning her eyes to the board. She didn't really seem to be looking at it, it was more like it just happened to be in the direction her eyes were pointing. "Hello teacher. Tell me, what's my lesson?" she asked wryly, her voice on the edge of a giggle.
(Bwa ha, full blown schizophrenic episode!)

Aislin looked at Sprightly curiously. "[red]Your summer?[/red]" she asked so that only Sprightly could hear. She had no idea what the girl was talking about, and her question was a shot in the dark. She did have to hide a smile though, when Sprightly asked the teacher about the lesson. As rude as it was, coming from Sprightly it was just funny.
Aislin grabbed her piece of chocolate. "[red]Engorgio,[/red]" she said tapping it with her wand. The chocolate actually got smaller. "[red]How the hell?! Sprightly, do you mind helping me with your expertise?[/red]" she asked.

Your summer?
"My what? Oh, it wasn't mine. I'm not even mine these days" she sighed not minding her voice level at all. "I think you did it wrong" she added prodding the chocolate gently with her wandtip "I'm quite good at identifying things like that. Perhaps, then, I should give it the old college try"she smiled and rolled up her sleeves, her robe sleeves seemed to be strangely long as they had been covering her hands. It was in violent contrasted to last year when all of her robes had been beautifully tailored, custom fitted to her body so they hung on her very nicely.
"Engorgio... um, right?" she said, her wand wavering midway through the execution. The chocolate grew larger, true, but strangely so. It's texture became disturbing, like it was being looked at through a microscope. "Well drat! I did it wrong too, unless its supposed to look all scaly. Anyway, it's not going past my virgin lips" she said with finality as she crossed her arms stubbornly. A strange cockeyed smile crossed her face she waited for someone to make the next move, just like chess except with no clear cut objective and a larger game board.

Aislin giggled as Sprightly changed the chocolate. “[red]It’s better than going exactly the way it wasn’t supposed to I guess,[/red]” she said referring to the chocolate. She poked the chocolate with her wand and raised an eyebrow. “[red]What, exactly, have you done Sprightly?[/red]” Aislin asked. She tapped the chocolate again. “[red]Engorgio,[/red]” she muttered. The chocolate grew, but the texture stayed the same as it did for Sprightly. She glanced around quickly and then made a face. “[red]I’m no expert, but I think this is wrong,[/red]” she said with a smirk on her face. She wiped it away quickly, but a look in her eyes meant that she found the whole thing rather amusing. “[red]Help?[/red]” she asked lightly, looking at the teacher.

Blair watched amused as a Ravenclaw girl waltzed in dreamily, then stareted asking random questions about the lesson. Before Blair could answer a Gryffindor started talking to the new girl. Blair grabbed another chocolate and brought it to the Ravenclaw. She turned back when they started asking for help. When she went back she saw that the chocolate, though significantly larger than starting, was greatly...er....deformed. "[teal]Uh....er.....[/teal]" Balir opened and closed her mouth a few times, bewildered looks on her face, "[teal]What did you do to it?? It-nevermind, lets just get a different chocolate bar and trash this one.[/teal]" Blair grabbed the deformed bar of chocolate and threw it in teh trash then went over and grabbed another bar from her cupboard then took it to the Gryffindor girl. "[teal]By the way, your names are?[/teal]"

A solid whumpf sounded in the classroom, followed promptly by the squeak of the door opening. "Hmm, it seems that I am late once again, and, by the way, everyone, I found the door."
A very disheveled and highly unrecognizable Klarisa entered the room, took three steps, and--being quite disoriented--fell on her face. She stood up almost imediately, proclaiming herself unhurt. "Yes, yes, uh..." she stumbled over to the nearest desk, not believing herself capable of safely navigating any farther. Her hair stuck up more than usual, and in more directions, and her robes were dusty, twisted, and inside out. Slumping down in the chair with her face, which looked as if it had been painted with ash and then smeared with olive oil(though she was quite dry), on the desk surface, the odd girl's voice came muffled from between the desk and her lips. "I suppose I'm expected to ask what I'm supposed to be doing?"
((OOC: It's probably safer NOT to ask why she's late, but if you'd like, go ahead. ;D))

Sprightly grinned as the professor critiqued her poor attempt at enlarging the chocolate. As she opened her mouth to answer Professor Buchanan's inquiry as to her name Fork came in with the most dramatic entrance possible. The pale girl sighed "Sprightly Raffington" she answered certain her reply would go unheard after Fork's wanton bizarreness. As always she was ignored and would continue to be ignored unless she did something immediately destructive. Another sigh and she put her head against her desk, tears slipping from her eyes and down her nose forming a small puddle on the desk.
Why was she so miserable? The answer to that was extremely difficult to discern, there were too many answers. Why was she immediately unhappy? Well, because someone had been paying attention to her, trying earnestly to help her learn. That attention had been yanked away by a person who probably didn't want it and, from the look of her, certainly didn't need it. Sprightly was sick of being ignored except when someone was yelling at her, not that it was a change from her previous life. That was the kicker, everything around her and inside of her had changed so dramatically but the world stayed exactly the same. She wasn't angry at the world, it had some kind of sick grudge against her. Now she had made things so much worse, crying in class for no reason, that sort of thing made a clear message to everyone around her that she was a few bricks short of a load.

"[red]Aislin Hunter,[/red]" she replied after Sprightly, a grin just as big on her face. She turned her attention to Fork and waved her over. "[red]Fork, come over here! Maybe you can help us...[/red]" she called out to her best friend. She was very curious as to why she was late, but did not ask. It wasn't until a few moments later that she noticed Sprightly was crying. "[red]Give us a moment,[/red]" she told the teacher and Fork as she leaned over and half-embraced Sprightly awkwardly.
"[red]Hey,[/red]" she said kissing Sprightly's cheek lightly. "[red]What's wrong Spry?[/red]" she said. Her eyes looked at Sprightly in a curious and concerned matter. She would not turn her attention from her friend now.

Oh, immortal Gods... Fork groaned inwardly as faces turned to her. Picking herself up from the desk, the first thing she noticed was that Sprightly had burst into tears. ...What what...now? God, and it's probably my fault... Everything seemed to be her fault recently. And the three detentions she had received for being out in the halls after curfew (Stradivarius had hexed her mute a few nights ago, thus rendering her unable to enter the Gryffindor common room) didn't help. Rather, it all made her want to scream. "I'll uh... be there. When I get there." She hauled herself upright again, leaving her bag behind, and meandered in a rather uncoordinated manner over to her friend, selecting a seat on the side of Aislin opposite Sprightly.
