He looked up from his chocolate bar, worry showing on his face. "Sprightly?" he asked softly, wondering if he should go over, make her friends leave so he could carry her away and coo over her. He wanted to hold her close and promise her that he would always be there when she felt bad, that he would always be her guardian. He steeled himself to stay put No, just ignore her. Let her deal with it or she'll never get any stronger. Besides, she wants to be alone, she keeps pushing everyone away he forced himself to concentrate on his work.
"Engorgio" he commanded, the chocolate bar didn't even flinch. He couldn't get her out of his head, he couldn't get her to leave him alone. He risked a look, she was crying silently at her desk with Aslin and Fork flanking her. They were crowding her, probably going to make things worse Just leave the girl alone. She's better off without you and you without her. She drags you down, keeps you from the one you really love he tried to make himself believe it. All he could think about was Sprightly's declaration 'Every time you lie to yourself it feeds. Takes away the best parts of you. The living parts'. It made him shudder but he just concentrated on his work, less certain that Sprightly would be fine without him and more certain that he was somehow a very bad person.
Trying to distract himself he opened his Charms book to make certain he was doing it right. Unfortunately for him he had sketched on the page about enlarging charms. More unfortunately it was a speculative sketch of how Maria would look without a shirt. Quickly he slammed the book shut with a resounding snap and stowed it in his bag. On the bright side his mind was absolutely no longer on Sprightly.

((Just a minor note, Fork isn't next to Spry, Aislin is. Fork is on the other side of Aislin, i.e. Aislin's in the middle.))

Sprightly heard Aslin's voice, felt her arm around her, a kiss on the cheek. It made bristles rise inside of her, she was fully prepared to do something stupid when she heard another voice, soft and laced with worry. Nic said her name, just that and nothing else. Somehow it was enough to calm her a bit, enough to speak anyway "Don't please. just don't. Let the girl alone now" she pushed Aslin off of her and sat up. She wiped at her face for a moment trying to pull herself together. "She just needs to... I just need to... Please leave me alone and for Gods sake don't touch me. Makes me see... opens her eyes up. Everyone's up to something" she shook her head hard, pressing her palms forcefully against her temples so that it felt like her skull might crack.
It was no wonder she couldn't do the spell right, she couldn't even speak properly. Everyone was looking at her and for a moment she was afraid that they could see right through her, viscera and the backs of her eyeballs. Was someone laughing at her? She wasn't sure. Everything was so bright and the room felt so loud.

Aislin watched Sprightly curiously and then she looked at Nico. She remembered what he asked her on the balcony, and something didn't feel right. Her lycan senses were acting up. Something strange was happening, and Aislin realized that Sprightly had been acting differently as Nico had said, but her aura was a bit different as well. Her face grew serious and she turned her long gaze from Nico back to Sprightly, who seemed to be trying to crush her own skull. If she can...but not me because I'm a lycan...it would be harder for her to...my mind would be silent to her...but not everyone else's! Aislin thought wildly.
"[red]Sprightly?! Is it loud in here? Can you....I think you can...may I see you in the hall for just a minute?[/red]" she asked quickly, her mind absolutely reeling.

"Can't leave, we'll get in trouble!" Sprightly said totally incredulous at this suggestion. "Do you , know what happens if I start making trouble here? Of course you don't! God, we have to get back to work, have to, have to..." she held her wand limply in one hand, half-afraid to try again. "Tell you what, you get back to work. You make it work and I'll figure it out from there" she said weakly. The dumb thing was she had done enlarging charms before, she had done about half of the second year courseload. It was just too hard this time around, it had been so easy the first time, everything had been so much simpler.

"[red]Sprightly...[/red]" she started. "[red]Engorgio[/red]" she muttered in a distracted manner. The chocolate bar grew as it was told, but Aislin didn't care. "[red]Listen to me...hmm....meet me at the hut after class...I would like to talk to you where everything will be...quiet,[/red]" she said.

Maria glanced back worriedly as Sprightly had tears streaking down her face. She hadn't made an attempt to enlargen the chocolate bar yet, but wasn't quite interested. Sprightly had been the same in Transfiguration, but Maria felt that she had gotten through to Sprightly some at that point. This Sprightly was definitely a mess. Glancing over at Nico, she saw the usual battle that the boy always held in his own mind, but now Maria thought she knew what it was about. For, instead of leaving to comfort Sprightly, Nico had merely opened up his Charms book. Whatever he was looking for, Maria didn't know, but perhaps she knew a little bit that might be bothering Sprightly.
She grimaced. Nico was flat-out ignoring the girl, and Maria didn't like it. So this is what Sprightly was talking about. Maria said, thoughtfully. Nico did say he loved me, and now this is happening to poor Sprightly. She was slightly irritated that he was ignoring Sprightly, worried for the poor girl, and quite baffled, since she knew that she had to do something, or else deal with guilt. But then Maria remembered her chocolate bar. "Engorgio!" She said, and the chocolate bar grew. She wasn't all that surprised. Emotions seemed to help her control the magic, she had found out not long ago.

"Hey, good job Maria!" Nico said encouragingly "I wish mine would get bigger... the chocolate bar I mean" he sounded a little embarrassed. Actually he was a little embarrassed. For all the pomp and show and gentlemanly behavior he was extremely attracted to Maria, the risque sketch had done a nice job of reminding him of that. "Um, could you help me out over here? I don't think I've got the wand movement right or something" he asked trying not to check on Sprightly. He still wanted to go over and help her.

Maria looked over at Nico, who quite to her surprise, looked quite embarassed at what he had said. Completely ignoring the matter, she said, "Sure."
Sitting near his seat, she picked up her own wand and chocolate bar. "I don't think it's all about the way you move the wand. At least, not completely. Alot of it has to do with confidence and attitude. It sounds weird, but think about it this way. People do these Charms every day, and they don't have to think about how they move the wand. They just know that the Charm will work."
Maria frowned. "That probably didn't help all that much. See, when I did it, it just kind of happened, because I was filled with several emotions. But that's just what helps me. If you know that it's going to happen, it will."
"See? Engorgio!" She said once more, and her chocolate bar grew again, this time looking a little bent at the corners, but still definitely a chocolate bar. It was now the size of a small book. "And," She whispered taking a wild shot at why he might not be doing all that great today. Maria nodded her head in Sprightly's direction. "It might help just a little if you're free of guilt."

"Hut, hut, hut..." it sounding like a marching cadence "I know that place. It looks dirty. There are lots of other places that aren't dirty that we could meet. There's the library, and the trophy room, and an empty classroom on the fifth or sixth floor. Actually the classroom is pretty dusty, and if you're not careful..." she stopped, knowing she shouldn't finish. What could she say? If you're not careful dead people will tell you annoying stories? That wouldn't blow over well at all and she had no idea how the staff would react to something like that. She stared down at the table blankly, like she was trying to bore a hole in it with her eyes.
"Engorgio" she said, the wand movement was right that time, no faltering or asking if she was doing the right spell. The table gave a sudden jolt as it grew good three times larger and nearly bowled her over backwards. She giggled "Oh gods, I don't remember the counterspell. Sensei, could you fix it?" she asked, a huge grin plastered on her face as she looked at the now enormous table.

"[red]I know the counterspell,[/red]" Aislin said with a laugh. She smiled and broke off a piece of chocolate, tossing it into her mouth and eating it. "[red]Not too bad. How about the library then, Spry?[/red]" she asked eating another piece of chocolate. "[red]Well, this tastes all right. I would wager money that you did this spell perfectly,[/red]" she finished gesturing to the chocolate, still giggling.
