Maria stepped into the room cheerily and waved at the Headmistress as she took her seat. It was a bright day, and she was in a wonderful mood. Her sisters had been on their own for a while, and it seemed as though both were doing fine. Much to Maria's relief, of course. Alyson was now walking with more confidence, and Alexis seemed to remember more with each passing day. And both were growing more and more excited about the magic that they were learning. Maria grinned. It would be a great day.

Fork strode in silently out of habit. She was in no particular mood, and exuded no particular ambience. Nodding her greeting to the Headmistress, she sat down and leaned back slowly in her chair, squinting at the board.

Aislin walked into class with a grumpy expression on her face. She had been walking down the hall when an owl swooped down and dropped a letter to her. When she opened it, it was a letter from her father...or uncle, if you want to get technical.
She had it balled in her palm as she stopped in the doorway. She had finally gotten over her father leaving her on her own, and now he had the nerve to send her a letter.
Aislin walked over the headmistress's desk and threw the letter down before striding to sit in the back of the class. She practically threw her bag on the ground and sat with her arms crossed.
Aislin,
It has been particularly difficult for me to cope with my wife's death. You can't possibly understand the pain that I felt after her death. I loved her so, and wished only the best for her. I have not been able to be a responsible parent to you, and that is why I left you. I would like to come and get you this break, and have you live with me again.
Your loving father.
Aislin thought of the note again in disgust and stood again and walked back to the front of the class.
"I won't go," she said in a low tone to the Headmistress. "He is a liar. He did nothing but beat me and my mother, and then he abandoned me...he'll make me go..." she said softly. She looked at the headmistress pleadingly. Her anger was so much that she found herself fighting back tears.
She knew that her father would make her go and she would do anything not to go. The dark circles under her eyes from lack of sleep and constant transformation were very noticeable at this moment, and Aislin felt as though she could explode at any time. She was not any more emotionally stable, and with her now being a full werewolf, she was even less so.

Fork frowned slightly and looked up in confusion as Aislin walked in looking ready to kill. Or maybe cry. Fork wasn't sure which first. She stood, shoving her chair back, and swept up next to Aislin in front of the Headmistress. Taking her friend's hand unobtrusively, she whispered, "What happened?"

Aislin turned to Fork and her face showed overwhelming hurt. "[red]My fath....my uncle,[/red]" she said quietly. She turned back to the headmistress, clutching her friend's hand. "[red]He hated that I was a-- ehem...he hated what I was, and he'll hate it even more now that I'm...well...full...[/red]" she said, nto wanting to reveal to the class her "condition."

Fork's face tightened and she muttered a few select names under her breath, squeezing Aislin's hand to say she had understood.
Again, whispering, she told Aislin, "If he tries to force you... He'll have a Fork to reckon with. I didn't get a chance to tell you, but I've recently been developing my own spells. Unregistered, but they are quite useful. And some of them quite nasty." Her wicked, crooked grin hinted at the nature of the spells.

Kaelon strode into the room casually. He was wearing a collared shirt under his leather jacket today, with a pair of slouchy ragged blue jeans. His ears bore small silver studs.
Crossing the room to where the Headmistress sat at the front of the room before two students, both Gryffindors, both female. "Would you like me to take over now?" he asked quietly.

Aislin nearly cried in relief at the headmistresses words and she thanked her with a short hug. Then she looked up at the man who had just entered.
"[red]Hey, I know you. You're Professor Dayton's boyfriend, aren't you? I met her in the hallway after you left. I asked about you...[/red]" Aislin said. Then she blushed from her stupidity and rudeness. "[red]I'm sorry, professor,[/red]" she apologized quickly, looking at the floor. She got the feeling that he was going to strike her for being such a naive child, and cringed at the tiniest movement as she stared at the floor.
He isn't my father. He isn't going to hit me! He's my professor! she thought tho herself, blushing an even deeper crimson.

"Huh? Oh, yeah, yeah, I am, " Kaelon grinned, laughing a little. "Though, uh... Keep it on the down low, hey? Nothing's official yet, but, uh..." he paused indecisively, and decided to keep his thoughts under wraps for now. " Ah, whatever. And it's all right, you didn't do anything wrong." he added with a little confusion as to why she had suddenly apologized.

Aislin looked up and gave the professor a big, twelve year old grin. "[red]You're nicer than my dad,[/red]" she said, and with a bit of a skip, she pulled Fork with her back to their seats. She was normal an emotional wreck, but discovering for sure that this man wasn't going to beat her, she was in a very happy mood. She hadn't really been around men her father's age since her sister died, so she had been convinced that all adult males were horrid.

Kaelon smiled, a little confused, but didn't say anything until after she and her friend had sat down. Glancing around, he asked, "Are you all the only second-years?"

"[red]Pretty much,[/red]" Aislin said with an odd expression on her face. "[red]Some students didn't come back to hogwarts, one was killed...there aren't many second years left,[/red]" she continued.

Fork, up until that moment had been silent, apparently choked up by something or other, and finally voiced it after Chelsea spoke, squeaking in less than a whisper, "Oh, my God, he's hot." So saying, she covered her face in her hands, turning a bright scarlet.

[[Chelsea didn't say anything. 'Twas Aislin, I didn't log out though, I'm sorry. Same on this post. Aislin, not Chelsea.]]
Aislin smiled broadly and nodded her head. "[red]Just don't tell Stra--er...nevermind,[/red]" she started, forgetting momentarily that Fork and Stradivarius were not on the best of terms. "[red]He is hot![/red]" Aislin said, forgetting that he was standing within earshot as she spoke to Fork. When realization hit her, she was mortified.
