Kaelon paused once in his return to his desk, but decided against saying anything. Girls would be girls, he supposed, and there wasn't anything he could do about it. Chelsea would've laughed at him.
"Well, if you girls are the only ones here, we might as well start class, I suppose, " he glanced at the board, checking what Haleigh had planned for the lesson.
"[purple]All righty, the Full-Body Bind curse. Fairly easy, all you do is point and say petrificus totalus, a'right? Umm...[/purple] " Kaelon cast about for something to use for targets. "Do y'all just wanna pair up and I can find something extra for the odd man out?"

Maria blinked as the professor came in, and gave a little smile at him, but almost choked with laughter at Aislin's declaration. It was true, of course, but she wasn't about to say anything. Maria didn't move. She didn't want to swipe someone's usual partner from them.

Aislin didn't move either. She didn't want to pick someone, and have someone else left out. She bit her lip a bit distressed; Aislin always got worked up about the small things. "[red]Maria, you can partner with Fork if you'd like. I don't want anyone to be left out,[/red]" she told the girl with a small smile.
She didn't mind. Her and Fork spend plenty of time together in all of their classes. She was more concerned about one of them than herself anyway.

It took Kaelon a moment to notice the slight awkwardness between the girls, but he hastened to fix his mistake. "Or, or hey, you can all just work together? I'll help anyone that doesn't get it, and help with the counter curse. Which is the Curse Alleviation charm, Ospitium, of course." He smiled a little, looking from each of them to the next. "Yes, I think that would be better. One of you will cast the curse, and then the countercurse, and then the target can cast on the next person, and so on. You get it? All right, " he vanished the desks with a swish of his wand. "Shall we? Um... Aislin, you can start the casting."

Aislin hesitated, even after the professor spoke. She had never cursed one of her friends before. Sure, she had cured other people (the ones she wasn't scared of, that is) but never her friends. She barely knew Maria, but when they did talk, she was so sweet, and Fork...well, Fork was her best friend, and had been for a long time.
Stressed under the insane idea that someone would get upset for being hexed first, Aislin preformed the task without anymore thought...aiming her curse at Kaelon at the last second.
As soon as the curse hit she widened her eyes. "[red]Ohmigosh...[/red]" she whispered, coming to the realization of what she had done. She had hexed a teacher. Not to mention a new one.
She turned crimson abruptly and muttered the counter-curse that Professor Reeve had taught them. Once she did so, she sat on the floor, setting her wand off to one side, her head bowed. "[red]I'm sorry Professor. Please forgive me,[/red]" she said, her voice breaking as her mind went back to her father, and she again, began to fear abuse from this stranger.
Automatically, she tensed up, ready to take a pounding. "[red]Just please don't hit my face, sir. I will take whatever else you have but my jaw still hurts from last time--[/red]" she began before she could catch herself. She turned an even deeper red as she realized what she had said, and her face was now burning with shame.

Kaelon had been about to forgive her, no hard feelings, nah, when Aislin went on asking him not to hit her. Not to hit her? His face scrunched in surprised bemusement. This was the second time she had said something like this.
Placing a hand on her shoulder, he murmurred, "I'm not going to hit you. Really. You can trust me. But, uh..." he lowered his voice, his natural protectiveness coming into play, "If you don't mind me asking... did something happen?"
Glancing up at the other two girls, he thought for a moment, before enunciating, "Uh... Y'all can sit down if you want, I think we'll just sit this period out. I didn't exactly have this planned out, having to just jump in and all, and I'm not very good at thinking on my feet. I'm sorry, girls."

Aislin winced as he asked her the question that she had subconciously been dreading, but she face him anyways. "[red]My father used to beat me, Sir,[/red]" she mumbled, more than embarrassed.
"[red]I haven't been around adult men who haven't hit me in quite awhile...[/red]" she explained, a bit nervous and apprehensive because she had just declared to the world that he was hot, and she took fine note of his hand on her shoulder.
"[red]I really am sorry Professor...I wasn't thinking clearly when I hexed you...I didn't want my friends to think I favoured one of them over the other by picking one to jinx, so I just...[/red]" she said.

Fork bit her lip, looking from one to the other. Quite suddenly, after looking as though she might burst, she blurted, with heavy volume and enunciation, "POTATOES."

Kaelon had been about to respond, when the strange girl--what was her name? He couldn't remember...--made her statement, causing him to jump a little. As he looked at her, he couldn't stop his lip from twitching up in a little smile of helpless amusement. This would prove to be an interesting job.
Turning back to Aislin, he hugged her close to him for a second, murmuring, "If you ever need help, just come to me."
It was rather a strange thing to say to a student, he knew, but it was his nature to want to protect people. Ever since he had been a teen at that detention center, holding his 'concerts'... That was when he had met Chelsea... He knew, or at least hoped, she would approve.
Kaelon needed to play his guitar again sometime.
((Oh, lawd, I'm random today. *shrug*))

[[nuts! I knew I got on the wrong account. Oh well.]]
Aislin was surprised when Professor Reeve hugged him, and she nearly flinched again. Instead, she blushed a deep shade of violet and nodded. She was not used to this kind of treatment. "[red]Thanks,[/red]" she murmured softly, not swayed by Fork's potato comment.
She was used to her friend's random statements, so it did not seem nearly funny enough to her, but she smiled at her friend anyway, and the smile was sincere.
Chelsea came walking into the classroom, her heels clicking lightly on the floor. The scene that she came in to was...unusual. Kaelon was hugging a girl who looked about a third year, though she knew somewhere in the back of her mind that this was a second year class.
"[red]Pardon the intrusion,[/red]" she said a bit awkwardly, knowing that Kaelon had a good reason for what he was doing; he always did. "[red]Did Peeves come this way? That nasty little--[/red]" she started, glacing from the kids to Kaelon. "[red]Anyway, he stole a student's wand and has been bouncing around everywhere creating quite a fuss,[/red]" she said.
She looked at Kaelon briefly before staring at the girl next to him. Aislin met her gaze and Chelsea smiled reassuringly, seeing how embarrassed the girl was. She had apparently made a mistake. She could tell by the disrupted state of the classroom. She didn't mention her noticing though, for she knew from experience that would not help the situation.
She looked back at Kaelon, awaiting an answer.

Kaelon blinked a little slowly, his relaxed, take-it-slow nature baing a little overwhelmed by everything suddenly going on. After a moment, he patted Aislin's hand gently, saying, "It's all right."
Looking up at Chelsea (she looked startled-- how cute), Kaelon shook his head a little, getting is hair out of his face. "No, I haven't seen him, hon, " he replied thoughtfully. "Is he still bothering you? Call me next time, I'll talk to him, okay?"
He stood, stretching his legs slowly, and helped Aislin to her feet as well. He glanced quickly at Chelsea, then turned back to the class (if you could call three girls a class, he thought with amusement), saying, "I"m sorry this class didn't go so well, girls... Youcan leave early if you want, just tell anyone who asks that I dismissed you..."

Aislin was grateful when he helped her to her feet and listened to him with her eyes on the ground. When he dismissed them, she gathered her things quickly and threw them into her bad. She hurried out of the room and tripped over the threshold, though she caught herself before she could fall. Turning a brighter red, she ran down the hallway and out of sight to her favourite place in the school; the room of requirement.
"[red]Yeah...he's still a little pest---what happened, darling? She seemed a little...no. A lot apprehensive around you.[/red]" Chelsea turned back to the doorway with a worried expression on her face and then turned back to Kaelon. "[red]Was it.....[/red]" she began, glancing at the other two students. "[red]Was it her father?[/red]" she continued, quieter.
She had spoken with the headmistress about the girl once. Chelsea could certainly relate to the girl in ways, but she hadn't really spoken to her. Not yet.
