Xander sat along the edge of the lake, appearing as if almost ready to immerse himself into the obsidian waters, although he held no such intention. He rested on his back, torso lifted up by his elbows as his eyes grazed the scenery. They lacked the typical look of fascination one might receive from such a fantastic landscape, and instead were rather... unamused--bored. What did it matter to him what his surroundings appeared as so long as he was left to do absolutely nothing?
The Slytherin moved his hands behind his head and laid flat across the grass, surpringly dry though perhaps through magical means. He didn't have anything to do, and most of the students appeared to have class, he figured. In addition, he didn't want to cause any trouble right away for fear it would set him off as a prime suspect for his later plan with Fork, which definately outdid whatever he could do now anyway.
Sighing, he continued to stare blankly and allow various thoughts to course through his mind in attempts of self-entertainment.

Gyan finally emerged from the lake, the effects of his gillyweed wearing off. He had a large gash down his chest, which wasn't bleeding. He grimmaced, and saw his wrist was jettisoned at an odd angle. He had run into the giant squid, Of all creatures.
Gyan healed up his wrist, and made sure his magic seal on his chest wound was holding up nicely. The squid caught his wrist as he was swimming by, and slammed him into a rock formation, where the jagged stone had cut his chest.
He flipped his hair out of his face and walked up onto shore, his fins dissapearing, and his gills reforming into skin. He diddn't notice the Slytherin boy nearby.

Fork trotted up in her feline form, her steps a little bouncy from trying to avoid getting soggy paws from the damp grass. She butted her head lightly against Xanders leg as she drew level, rubbing her cheek against him, then shifted back into a human and half-fell into a slouched-over cross-legged position. The lake was her most and least favorite place to be, but it didn't really matter, for it wasn't very sunny out at the moment. She rolled her neck back, gazing at the sweep of the sky, cut off in a jagged line by the castle, and, much closer, in a softer line by the edge of the forest, then back down and looked curiously at Xander.

Gyan shook his head like a wet dog, his fish attributes gone now, as he began popping his joints. He sat down on the rocky shore, the water lapping against his back.
After a hearty laugh, he stretched his arms out and let himself fall back into the shallow water. He loved swimming at night.

Xander smiled as he felt fur rub against his leg before pulling back to present Fork in her human form, looking at him oddly through strands of hair that covered her face. He lifted a hand to make a lazy wave-like motion in greeting.
Mouth opened, the slytherin prepared to speak before a faint laugh interrupted his words. Scowling at this random noise, he looked past Fork to see a figure swimming in the water. Swimming? Xander raised an eyebrow at this, he himself not exactly fond of swimming in a lake full of slimy, scale-coated creatures of the deep, but chose to leave it be for now.
"What's up, Fork?" he asked, nonchalant as if the interruption hadn't occured. "I thought you had class," Xander added, cocking his head with a grin.

Gyan sat up and shook his head, spraying water back into the lake. Nights like this were usually reserved for transforming and fluttering through the Forbidden Forest, but he decided to relax a bit. He got out of the water and jumped back in abruptly, re-surfacing about a minute later.
He took a deep breath of night air and slowly drifted about the surface, his snow hair spread out about him. He closed his eyes, enjoying his amity and silence.

Despite his query to Fork, Xander seemed slightly mesmerized by the occasional appearances of the swimmer. Staring with squinted eyes in an attempt to improve his vision, he finally called out to it.
"Oi! Swimmer-kid!" He waved his arm about so he'd be recognized.

"No... Class went out the widow, catastrophe being unaverted and all that, so here I happen to be, " Fork said slowly and quietly. She turned, her interest also piqued by the gentle splashing of the swimmer, whose smell she had recognized as she drew near. It was Gyan. Fork looked askance at Xander as he yelled at the boy, slightly amused.
The truth was, she had been kicked out of one of her less important classes, and another had dismissed VERY early, so... Here she was. She twiddled detachedly with a fold in the knee of her jeans.

Gyan did a small back flip into the water and re-appeared at the shore. He walked out, squeezing the water from his hair and flipping it behind him. He wore his black swimming trunks and his wand was in a holster on his ankle.
"You rang?" He asked. "Oh, hi Fork" He added cheerfully.

Xander looked at Fork with the mst confused expression he could muster, hoping it might occur to her that simply because it made sense in the twisted realm of her own mind that it might not to him, although her phrase today seemed fairly logical despite it's odd formation and the strong likelihood she wasn't even being truthful.
About to ask what happened, he was interrupted by the reply to his previous words, and grinned in that characteristic manner of his.
"I did." Xander looked the swimmer up and down as he greeted Fork. "Bit of a freak to be swimming in that mess," he commented with a grimace of disgust but at the same time admiring the boy's odd deciscion to do so with a hint of jealousy. "You have anything better to do with your time?" His smile became rather condescending, tone suggesting either an argument or playful conversation, or neither at all.

The confusing tone of this boy's voice rang throughout Gyan's ears, so he decided to test it. "Hm, I could be having a duel with the Whomping Willow, or playing Quidditch, or mabey just walking around the Forbidden Forest. The night beckons for so much, and gives little time to do it" He said, with a small wink directed at Fork to enunciate his last sentance.
Gyan wrung his hair out a bit, carefull to flick a bit of water on the Slytherin before he threw it behind his back. "Pardon my arrogance, I'm just in a good mood" He said, lifting his chin up a bit.

Fork nodded disinterestedly in recognition that Gyan had addressed her, and leaned slowly, almost imperceptibly slowly, forward, until she overbalanced and half-fell half-flopped forward into a rather uncomfortable looking position with her chin on the ground, where she looked curiously up at the two boys. Raising her eyebrows high as they would go, she rocked her head back and forth as she spoke.
"I don't quite understand that look; don't look at me like that without an explanation, please. Gyan has nothing to do with his time in general, it seems, he is often everywhere at once and anywhere else you may imagine him being as well. Dont-- don't look at Fork me that. Trouble is not an occurrence of any infrequency as far as any endeavor in which Fork is concerned."
Glancing up at Gyan now, she said quite evenly, "And for frolicking about in the Forest for tonight, I think that Fork finds it an attractive but not presently appealing offer."

Gyan nodded in apology towards his strange friend, and soon realised he was out in the middle of the night, soaking wet in nothing but swimming trunks, and began shivering slightly.
"Um, excuse me, but I think I'll go put clothes on now" He said, turning on his heel and swiftly marching towards the place on the bank he had left his bag, and his clothes.

Xander lost the chance to make a retort as the conversation switched off of him to Fork, injuring his pride in a manner he didn't exactly take kindly too. Consequently he remained in silent seething as they chatted in a far too amiable manner... for him, and laid down on his back, distracting himself with clouds and pretending to be amused in his own world.
"What a pity," he muttered at the most recent opening, "I simply love looking at you like that." His expression of disgust clearly verfied the already heavily sarcastic tone. Unfortunately, Xander's voice was no more than a whisper to prevent risking the fish boy saying something else back and irritate him further. He should give the litte show-off a chance, the Slytherin told himself cynically. Ha, frolick in the forest. With Fork. Pah.
He took a moment to realize Fork had been talking to him. Hard to tell with her, of course, if she was talking to anyone at all and excused it on that. Staring at her briefly, he decided to talk before fish boy returned to erm... be annoying. But with clothes.
"I see you guys are friends," he observed, hoping she might contradict the statement but not exactly expecting it, therefore continuing. "Close?"

((I keep forgetting why he's saying "looking at you..." so I'm like... Ahaha, Xander's such a PERV! But then I remember, oh, yeah... Nevermind...))
"Enjoyment is subjective to opinion, indeed, " Fork mused, watching Gyan leave from the corner of her eye, with her chin still in the mud. "Friendship is subjective, Fork supposes, as well. But I believe friends? Yes. Close? ...In some ways maybe, but not particularly, nor in general. Xander does not care for him much, Fork notices."
